The Alara Block draft! Tell me why I suck!

First things first:  Next year I'm buying twice as many cards and asking for half as much time.  I did not enjoy running halfway across town to a comic shop that was closed -- any more than people enjoyed finding out I couldn't run any more games!

With that out of the way, for the people that did get to play, did you enjoy yourselves?  Did you like the format?  Was single-elimination OK or would you rather see Swiss-style pairings?  *gulp*... Would you want it to be sanctioned?  *runs*

Please let me know!!

That's a neat idea, I will definitely think about that. Thing is, it's largely run like a semi-organized pickup game -- I get 8 players, I kick off a draft. My problem was that this year I didn't know how popular it would be so I ran outta cards in half an hour! I will think about doing advanced signups though, there may be a way to work it in somehow.

The other thing I think I need to do is make it clear in the description that even though the event is running for X hours, you're not there the whole time... :-P Just long enough to draft and play 3 matches basically.

*laughs* If you had added that disclaimer to your description, you might have gotten twice again more. All the CCG games on the schedule were well received to the amazement of their hosts.

Even I couldn't have foreseen it. We were all unsure of how many folks would make time at AC to play games. I'm afraid I might have to ask KP for even more space next year.

But anyway, sorry to hear you walked all the way across town to no avail. I can assure you with AC a week earlier in June, that Bill and Walt's WILL be open on Saturday. :) Darned holiday weekend.

Thanks for taking the time to host your tourney and help with the Gaming Track!

I thank you for having me :-) And the warning about the number of players increasing substantially is duly noted. I'd still be much happier running six drafts than three :-)

Sorry I couldn't make it. I simply have too many people I want to see and too much to do to spend it playing 4-8 hours of magic at a con. Hope you had fun with it, and I hope you can keep them up in the future.

Understood entirely! I did have fun, and I'm fairly certain the players did too. Definitely looking forward to running another one next year.
